The Coromandel Coastal Walkway
This walk rivals any Great New Zealand Walk! The New Zealand famous 3-4 hour walk links the east and west coast roads together along a bridle path used for centuries by the Maori and Pakeha Settlers.

This stunning walk starts at Stony Bay where there are 600 plus year old Pohutukawa tree. The walk starts with beautiful native forest, and then climbs upwards to a look out on the tip of a high cliff face. You feel like you are standing on top of the Coromandel Peninsula with to die-for views of the rugged coastline, crystal clear water below and Great Barrier Island so close. This is the perfect spot for lunch, where you have time to take in the gorgeous scenery.
This walk is loved by the locals, and is the best kept secret around!
There are two transport options:
-
With Coromandel Adventures the Coastal Walkway starts at Stony Bay and finishes at Fletcher Bay where your guide will be waiting with refreshments.
-
Self-drive to either Stony Bay or Fletcher Bay and complete a portion of the walk as you will need to return to your transport. The scenery is diverse, dramatic and completely natural the entire walk.
Note: The walk is suited to all age groups with an average level of fitness. Either transport option is great. Please let us know if you are interested in completing this walk, and we will provide you with more information on your transport options!
Dining in Coromandel Township.
In some of New Zealand's smaller towns it can be hard to find places open on Sundays or evenings that serve good food - not so in Coromandel!
